read an interesting article about machsomwatch.org
an organisation of israelian women who volunteer watching the checkpoints
and reporting on their homepage what they see
One conclusion of the interviewed volunteers:
„Über der ganzen Bedrohung durch Terrorismus verlieren wir unsere Moral.“
("Over all this threats of terrorism we loose our morals".)
So true for a lot of stuff going on in the "western world" nowadays.
I like this idea, keeping an eye on the things your government and the executives are doing, especially those actions you disagree with.
Guess in Germany we should do that more concerning the war in Afghanistan,
requiring more accountability from our politicians.
man, we all so forgot about it, not even recognising anymore when the parliament quickly passes bills about sending out more soldiers and so forth,- as it happened this summer without big public discussions. The question is left how to do that best.
Another interesting project pro asyl and some welfare organisations in Germany recently started is the "save- me - campaign" where they want to motivate citizens to plead and inform in their cities for a willingness to take up a certain "contingent" of refugees per year more than already. The contingent should consist of refugees having a refugee status under the geneva-convention and whose need for protection is declared as very immediate by the UNHCR.
Background to this campaign is also, that Germany due to the Dublin II convention takes up very few refugees who need help as so few people even make it to enter the borders.
Yep, thats about responsibility...
besides that it´s already far too late again
