paper wheels

I lately was again in a home of an older couple. The floor was totally covered in different thick carpets. To preserve the nice floor. And the couch was totally covered with blankets in no fitting colours. To preserve the couch. What a pity to preserve things so much, you never come to enjoy them.

One thing I learned in Denmark is that it is important how the rooms look you are living, learning and working in. It is effecting the way how you can work, how you welcome and honour people and treat yourself. In Germany there are still so many terrible office and working and learning places. No beauty, no nice colours, no design. And how much time of our life are we spending there...

The hallway in my working place used to look not very welcoming. And we didn´t even notice. Sadly as social workers we are so often used to having little money to be spend on these things. And over the years you can become so used to the status quo.

So what we did together with some women:
Painting an old small table white.
Sewing some covering for old chairs with a nice blue-white print fabric that was donated to us.
And now making some paper wheels for the wall.
Extreme difference.
