on easy rape and actual lovemaking

"I think it is absolutely the responsibility of an artist to look into darkness without blinking. I think it is important that we talk about morality and character and the way we dehumanize one another. But I also think the point has been more than made on film that rape is a terrible thing, and at this point, if you're not contributing some new idea to the conversation, then you are literally just using it as a button, something you push to get a response, and that unnerves me.

If I had to pinpoint what bothers me most about the subject, though, it's that our ratings system in this country is so broken that a film that contains a sustained, brutal rape sequence featuring full-frontal female nudity can breeze right through with an R-rating, but if you include a sequence in which two people engage in spirited, consensual sex and we see anything that resembles reality, you are automatically flirting with an NC-17 or going out unrated. We have created a code of film language in which the single most destructive act of sexual violence is perfect acceptable to depict in the most graphic, clinical detail, but actual love-making has been all but banished from mainstream film. There's no "almost" about it; it is disturbing on a philosophical level to realize how backwards the system is right now, and I think one of the reasons many filmmakers will include a rape scene is so they can get some nudity into their movie, and the context doesn't matter to them."
Drew Mc Weeny in The Bigger Picture: What happens when we find 'The Line' as viewers?

Recently I had this conversation with this really nice, young dude. We exchanged music we currently listen to, totally different worlds. He also let me listen to some of the Hiphop stuff he creates himself and also sells. There is this song where he describes that he has this super long penis stuffing women with. Them screaming. Couldn´t really find out just from the lyrics if it was meaning to be pain-or pleasure screaming.
Me: "Hey, just to make sure, you are aware of the fact, that it´s not just about the size, right?" He: "About what else then?" Me: "Ever heard of "clitoris"?" He: "Nope. What do you mean?"

the black trees

It´s tree time

So many trees get cut every year
and then are thrown out for new ikea-furniture
if they are not pretty enough, they get dismissed
it´s a sad world.

Here is my hommage to the black trees, the crooked, the lean, the outcast:

Material:
old magazines
thread
buttons
pen
leather left overs

"tree"-decoration

In case there´s any need of decorating any trees which associate you with christmas time, here´s my suggestion:

Have a swallow, fly back home (Handdrawn)

Origami-ball (I never do that again)

Crocheted Ball (bought that from a small village christmas market)

I´m more for a few decoration items, don´t bump the tree!

paper wheels

I lately was again in a home of an older couple. The floor was totally covered in different thick carpets. To preserve the nice floor. And the couch was totally covered with blankets in no fitting colours. To preserve the couch. What a pity to preserve things so much, you never come to enjoy them.

One thing I learned in Denmark is that it is important how the rooms look you are living, learning and working in. It is effecting the way how you can work, how you welcome and honour people and treat yourself. In Germany there are still so many terrible office and working and learning places. No beauty, no nice colours, no design. And how much time of our life are we spending there...

The hallway in my working place used to look not very welcoming. And we didn´t even notice. Sadly as social workers we are so often used to having little money to be spend on these things. And over the years you can become so used to the status quo.

So what we did together with some women:
Painting an old small table white.
Sewing some covering for old chairs with a nice blue-white print fabric that was donated to us.
And now making some paper wheels for the wall.
Extreme difference.

whores` glory

I´ve been lately invited at the launch of this film in Germany,
on the guest list due to my work.

Michael Glawogger has taken 5 years ( filming was just 30 days, building trust to be allowed to film took several years) to film different prostitution milieus in 3 different countries and 3 different religious settings:
  • High-class prostitution in Bhuddist Thailand where prostitution due to the king is not existing
  • a brothel town in Bangladesh, which is muslim and where prostitution is legalised since 2000 (even earlier than in Germany)
  • the mix of prostitution, drugs and some kind of brute catholicism in the "zona" in Reynosa, Mexico
The movie is not showing a certain view or opinion on prostitution, but shows:
it is like this, and like this and like this and also sometimes like this.

He told that in this sometimes all cruel settings it is still fascinating for him to recognise (and to show in his movies) how people still keep being beautiful people.

The movie is also uncomfortable and if you can´t take naked bodies and "dirty talk" better don´t watch it. It´s certainly not "jugendfrei" (In mehrfacher Bedeutung des Wortes).
Otherwise I think I would recommend it, also because the music is for my taste very well chosen.

Lately I got inspired to start stitching paper
it´s quite a nice possibility to make cards and the like from
used envelopes, old magazines and collected buttons.

Überbleibsel vom Juli- was man so macht

Den Mozzarella entlang seiner Linien reißen
Mit der Zunge am Gaumen zerdrücken
Die Tage mit Arbeit füllen
Die Tage ohne Dich füllen
Sich zusammenziehender Magen
und Angst.
Nicht mehr sprechen können.

In Bücher flüchten.
In Arbeit flüchten.

Laufen
